Counseling Style

I custom tailor your counseling experience based on your specific situation. Depending on the issues you’re facing, I use a combination of empathetic listening, experiential techniques (guided imagery, mindfulness, relaxation), and skills teaching (CBT, DBT, communication, interpersonal, emotional regulation).

I typically develop a trusting and warm rapport with clients. I try to be real with you, and I ask that you be real with me. Honesty and transparency are key to developing a strong therapeutic connection and to your progress.

credentials and education

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia (License #0701007308). I graduated with a Bachelors in Psychology from Virginia Tech in 2010 and a Masters in Marriage and Family Counseling from William and Mary in 2014.

experience

I moved back to Blacksburg after graduating from grad school and began working with New River Valley Community Services as a School-based Clinician. I then began working with Associates in Brief Therapy, a group counseling practice in Blacksburg. I now run my own practice in a shared office space (200 Country Club Dr., Suite A-2, Blacksburg, VA). Through these jobs, I’ve gained a wealth of experience working with individuals, couples, and families on a variety of issues.
