Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a session cost?

I currently take Anthem/Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance. If you have Anthem/BCBS, you’ll pay the copay according to your particular plan, and your insurance will cover the rest.

If you do not have Anthem/BCBS, check with your insurance to see if they reimburse for “Out-of-Network” providers. Payment is due at the time of service, and I take credit/debit cards. I ask that all of my clients keep a card on file. That way we need not take any of our session time to process a payment. My current out-of-pocket fees are:

Initial Intake Session: $150
Individual Sessions: $135
Couples Sessions: $100

How long does counseling last?

Individual sessions are 50-55 minutes long. Couples and family sessions are 30 minutes long. How many sessions depends on many factors (severity of symptoms, progress, etc.) and can range anywhere from just a few total sessions to ongoing weekly sessions for as long as it’s helpful.

How often will you see me?

I tend to see clients weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or on an “as needed” basis. How often you come depends on the severity of your symptoms and your progress.

Is what I say kept between us?

Everything we discuss is confidential, with only a few exceptions. Those exceptions are spelled out more thoroughly in my Informed Consent paperwork, but generally they entail: serious thoughts about suicide, threats of bodily harm to someone else, child abuse, or court subpoena. I take confidentiality very seriously and strive to protect your information as much as possible.

What if I miss my session?

I keep a very full schedule, and because of that I do charge a $50 fee for any no-shows or late cancellations (less than 24 hours), as that leaves a slot empty where another client could have filled in. Exceptions may be made for illness or other extreme circumstances. After the third late cancellation or no-show, I charge the entire session fee.
